It’s never easy having to say goodbye to a loved one. Remembering what made a person special to those left behind keeps those treasured memories living on for family and friends.

In choosing to remember through a civil ceremony it is possible to reflect what was truly special about your loved one and to express your own love, loss and memories in a unique and beautiful way.

Gestures and symbolic tokens

Sometimes a small gesture can leave lasting and comforting memories;
Lighting a candle, holding a sprig of rosemary as a living symbol of remembrance, the releasing of balloons, butterflies or doves, all can be part of your ceremony.

Readings & Poetry

The readings and poetry for funerals should very much be a personal choice and certainly doesn’t have to conform to tradition. A reading from a favourite book, the lyrics of a favourite song or poem or a verse penned by the family are all lovely ways to remember some one who has departed. The children's author A.A. Milne wrote some moving and touching lines in his famous Winnie The Pooh stories, Families are often inspired by the simplicity of the writing which can also be of help when younger children are attending a funeral service.
